Same Diff

Last Wednesday (of last week, hence last and not this past) - before Isabel was out for summer, Marcos took Alex and Nic out to the mountains for a hike.

I was excited for them; male bonding time! Marcos took the day off of work specifically for this hike.

They had a great time.

Nic was so excited about going on his first real hike.

I think they did a nice job of posing for the husband's camera phone.

The pictures came out quite alright.

My main squeeze sent these to me as he was taking them, so while I was at home working, it felt like I was experiencing the hike with them. Minus the heat, of course! =)

Nic couldn't wait to tell me all about it! 

He went on and on about the cactus, and the snakes (they didn't see any) and about how much he LOVED Funny Mountain. 

From the pictures, I couldn't quite place where they were. But for sure, I'd never heard of Funny Mountain.

Ohhhhhh!!!

nic's first t-ball practice

Nic had his first T-Ball practice this past Wednesday.
It was an adventure. =)

It was weird... Nic was really the only kid who went after the ball. No matter where the ball ended up, Nic went running after it - from 3rd base. It was super cute.

There were times when Nic was more interested in the rocks on the outskirts of the field then with actually playing ball - but I kinda expected that. Also, there was one play where Nic was running from 1st to 2nd - and instead of sliding in - HE SERIOUSLY did a SOMERSAULT into 2nd base. It happened sooo fast, I couldn't get a picture of it. He had all of the parents laughing so hard.

Next practice is Wednesday - and then they have a game on Saturday. Can't wait! ;)

Isabel starts practice on Monday - and has it 3x a week. Alex's first game at the H.S. is Thursday - and he's been practicing 6x a week.

I am still in bed due to my back. I went to the ER yesterday and was given a medicine cabinet full of drugs; nothing seems to be working though.

The husband as me hooked up though - the laptop and this:

42" Panasonic.  We were planning on getting a flat screen for the bedroom, he just expedited it.  He worked hard this weekend to run all of the cables and lines in the wall. Eventually, the power cord will be in the wall as well, he just didn't get a chance to move the electrical box. He's also been feeding me really well and doing a bunch of other really sweet things. I am the luckiest gal, really.

I have so much to do - and I am so behind on everything... I cannot wait to get out of this bed and back to my normal, chaotic life.

Over half of my life

Today is my 16th wedding anniversary...

Happy Anniversary to: my partner in crime, the man I adore [mi amore], my bacon bringer-home-er, my cuddle buddy, my true BFF, the dude who puts a smile on my face every single day, my massage therapist, the guy who makes sure I have oil and window cleaner fluid in my van, my own personal deejay, the sweetheart who loves me despite my flaws, the REAL DEAL.

Now, I just have to find a way to tell Marcos about us.

Of course, I am kidding. The only us is Marcos and me. =)
It's crazy to think... the husband and I have been together for more than half of my life. It's hard to remember a time before "us."

I was sitting across from him at dinner the other night - just watching him interact with the kids. And I SAW him. There are days, more often than not, that we co-exist. But, that other night, I stopped and really acknowledged him. He makes my gut tingle.

I am one blessed woman.

We will be going out for dinner tonight sans ninos... not sure where yet. Originally, we wanted to take a small trip somewhere... We never did get a honeymoon.  Because of all things December and our landscaper demanding money for services rendered, we have to put that off for a while. So, besides Googling and daydreaming about our impending tropical vacation somewhere in the next few months, I am going to enjoy all that today brings - starting with breakfast.

I did mention that the husband was my bacon bringer-home-er, right?

The Good, the Okay, and the Ugly!

Not necessarily in that order... :)

Isabel, Nic and I made a trip to Michael's today while Alex and the husband were out admiring their biggest catch:

Back to my story... We wanted to pick up some art supplies; we decided on an art project similar to the ones here and here.  After some time, this is what we ended up with:

They don't look like dinosaurs much, do they? Maybe I should have named this project Make Believe Animal (Maybe?) Art...

It's been a very happy Sunday in and around our house!  I think I am ready for the week to begin!

What?!  The husband and son woke up super early this morning to head out to Prescott (Goldwater Lake), to get some fishing time in. This is the first time they have ever gone fishing alone. I am so thankful that they are starting to do things like this - it only took 14 years!  We are certainly in a different place in life - we are able to do more and enjoy more.

Father's Day 2010

We had a fabulous Father's Day weekend.  It started off on Friday, we took the kids to go see Toy Story 3.  It was a fantastic movie; we laughed, we cried, we didn't want it to end. After the movie, we went to Peter Piper Pizza. I used to be a huge fan of PPP, but it seems they changed their pizza a little. :(

On Saturday, we went up to Woods Canyon Lake (it's a little past Christopher Creek). My parents were already up North for their anniversary trip (37 years!), so we had them meet up by the lake. We packed picnic lunches and all of our fishing gear!  The weather was perfect and we have a great time taking care of the husband and my own dad.

  

Finally, on Sunday, the kids and I decorated our dining room and wrapped all of the husband's presents. The husband was truly spoiled this year. He received the new Droid phone (well, it's on back order until July 17), a Senseo coffee maker, a salad kit container, a bag of his favorite candy, a #1 Dad trophy, and some great cards. He was able to get off of work earlier than usual - and he came home to find all of this laid out for him. After a dinner of Roasted Chicken Salad and corn-on-the cob, we fed him some cupcakes that we made.   After we cleaned up, we all went for a swim until it got dark.  It was just beautiful outside!

What a wonderful weekend. The husband is truly a great father... and we truly enjoyed making his weekend special!
